First aid kits must contain the required supplies outlined in section 6. in order to be in compliance with ANSI American National Standard Minimum Requirements for Workplace Safety 2009.  We have listed these requirements at http://westernfirstaid.com/ansiosharequiredandrecommend.aspx

This standard points out that an employer will anticipate additional first aid supplies that will be needed based on hazards that are specific to their specific work environment.  The choice of first aid supplies is a serious matter and should be made by a competent person with knowledge of first aid and related supplies.

First aid kits must be classified Type 1, Type 2, Type 3 or Type 4.

Type 1 first aid kits are for use in a fixed indoor location

Type 2 first aid kits are portable for indoor locations

Type 3 first aid kits are portable for indoor and/or outdoor settings, for example in a vehicle.

Type 4 first aid kits are portable for outdoor settings where the potential for damage to the kit and supplies is possible.
