Unbelievable!  Back, shoulder and or neck pain cause 49% of all work absences, although we thought the leader would be the common cold.  According to the most recent study of work place accidents dated 2009....

Musculoskeletal disorders are the number one cause of work absences that last longer than three days or more.

Causes of Musculoskeletal Pain?

Varied are the causes of musculoskeletal pain. Daily activities can be the wear and tear that can damage the muscle tissue. Other causes of musculoskeletal pain can be caused by trauma to an area (jerking movements, auto accidents, falls, fractures, sprains, dislocations, and direct blows to the muscle).  Postural strain, repetitive movements, overuse, and prolonged immobilization are also other causes of pain. Poor body mechanics and changes in your posture may bring about spinal alignment problems and muscle shortening which can result in other muscles to be misused and become painful.

Symptoms of Musculoskeletal Pain?

People with musculoskeletal pain will sometimes complain that their entire bodies ache, feeling like their muscles have been pulled or overworked. You also have the sensation of the muscles twitching or burning. Symptoms will vary from person to person, but the common symptoms are:

  • Pain
  • Fatigue
  • Sleep disturbances
