Heat cramps can affect workers who work in a hot environment and perspire a lot during the day due to strenuous activity. When the body sweats it depletes the body of salt and lowers the moisture levels of the body.
Symptoms of heat cramps are much like other muscle cramps, spasms and pain.
First aid for heat cramps is to get the individual into a cool environment, drink sports drinks and seek medical attention. The cramp will not go away within one hour if the individual has heart problems or is on a low sodium diet.
